- OVERVIEW -
For over 3 years, FATMAP has worked with mountain professionals, safety experts, explorers and athletes everywhere to create 3D maps designed to give you the confidence to explore the mountains and to push your own limits safely.
Whether it’s classic hike or a new ski line, all the key terrain and safety information you need can be accessed quickly from the app. A community of local experts continually update the maps and route information so you can find your way around an area like a local. The high-resolution 3D maps allow you to plan and navigate any mountain adventure with precision using terrain intelligence tools like avalanche and gradient mapping.

All content and map functionality FATMAP is available free. If you want to go off the grid, you can upgrade for offline map access for a month or a year.

- AVAILABLE MAPS -
We are constantly increasing our coverage and are working towards a complete global mountain map. We currently cover large parts of Europe, North America and Japan for winter sports and selected maps for summer sports.

See map list in the app for the most recent updates.

If you don’t find your desired map then please request it at fatmap.com/maps where you can also see our full and planned coverage.

--------------------------

Note: FATMAP uses GPS to record tracks. When these features are activated, FATMAP will continue to use GPS even when the app is in the background. Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.

Minimum requirements: iOS 7 or later; iPad 4, iPad mini 2, iPhone 5s and above. This app is NOT supported on earlier generations.

Pros and cons of FATMAP - Outdoor Map and Guide app for iPhone and iPad

FATMAP - Outdoor Map and Guide app good for

Just perfect for all my freeriding and backcountry adventures!
This is the best app ever, please consider to add more alps tracks

Some bad moments

alright so find some funding I guess because not only is every feature inaccessible, but the prices are extreme for temporary access...
Cool app. I personally wouldnt subscribe to it though. Advertising is probably a better model to increase a customer base.
You have to buy maps for irrelevant prices. Resolution in 3D-fly mode is far worse than claimed. Mountains are artificial, like in computer game. I havent found any use of this app while having spent 429 RUB for one only map.
I’ve been waiting for this since i saw it teased at the end of last year. It’s insane how good this looks.
This app seems like it would be awesome and it has the right ideas behind it but I dont know how much I would trust some of the data. If they have some serious feeds from the local experts on the snow and Avalanche conditions Id be impressed but Im not holding my breathe on that being the case. And only three maps?! I mean can you at least wait for a better roll out? And while the app is free the maps are far from it. I dont have any intention of skiing chamonix any time soon but lets say I did, at $7 to $20 for the map options Id feel hard pressed to get any real ROI for info I can easily find online for free. If they were to partner with lets say open snow whos forecasters have extensive regional knowledge along with regional Avalanche experts like NWAC here in the PNW (with of course maps for the area) Id be all about this app. Until something like that changes though, this is largely useless.
Ive tried several times to download the free trial map (nearly 2 GBs!) but it always fails. Im not about to pay $20 to download something which may or may not work.
